Rose Wilson's journey as a rug hooker began during Christmas 2005, when she received a hook, burlap, and a quick 10-minute lesson that left her instantly hooked on this form of fibre art.
Growing up as the daughter of an artist mother and an engineer father, Rose's creative and analytical sides work in harmony. She holds a Masters of Computer Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland. During her student years, her favorite way to procrastinate was by diving into Art Forum magazines in the QEII Library book stacks.
Her latest body of work, A Whole Lotta Rosie, is her most personal yet, featuring self-referential imagery of lips and roses in various states of ecstasy and distress. This collection speaks to a woman in mid-life who is on the brink of understanding herself but remains vulnerable to missteps.
Residing in Ottawa, Rose works in communications, while summers are blissfully spent at her home on the Southern Shore of Newfoundland.
