Rose Wilson's life as a rug hooker began during the Christmas of 2005, when, after receiving a hook, burlap, and a 10 minute lesson, she was instantly hooked.
The daughter of an artist mother and an engineer father, Rose's left and right sides of the brain take turns at the controls. She holds a Masters of Computer Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland. As a student, her preferred method of procrastination was to read Art Forum magazines in the QEII Library book stacks.
Her latest body of work, A Whole Lotta Rosie, is her most personal yet. Self referential imagery of lips and roses in various states of ecstasy and distress speak to a woman in mid life who is close to figuring things out but still susceptible to missteps.
Rose lives in Ottawa where she works in communications. Summers are spent at her home on the Southern Shore of Newfoundland.
